Gas tanks

Okay, I have remove my behind the seat tank due to the fact it leaked. I am looking at other alternatives, My truck is a 64 4x4 and It has a flatbed, and i plan on keeping it due to the general theme of the truck. I have a stainless keg or two laying around and I was consedering using one of them, or fabbing something up to fit in between the frame rails. I am not sure on what the regulations in Kansas are for gas tanks are, but any imput would be great!
Thanks
Ken

Re: Gas tanks

I just got one of the Boyd welding tanks for my 65 and it fits great and the workmanship is first class. That would be my vote onwhat to do.

Re: Gas tanks

I dont have the money to spend on a built tank, however I used to fabricate hydraluic reservors where I used to work and own a TIG welder, Does a gas tank just need to be atleast the thickness of the factory tank, and somewhat of an improvement? I dont know that the DOT would ever check me, but just incase.

Re: Gas tanks

I don't know for sure - but if KS has any safety inspection requirement, a keg gas tank will likely not pass. Summit offers a 16 Gal poly tank that fits in the rails (ref Trucks show C10 build). It was pretty cheap. Sorry, I don't have the part number, but it might be worth looking - here's a link to their tanks - note there are more on subsequent pages: http://www.summitracing.com/search/D...?Ns=Rank%7cAsc. Other alternative is to have someone weld up the current tank unless you are certain you want to relocate to outside the cab.
