New to the forum, glad I found it!
Hey guys, I've been lurking for a few months after doing a search on google about crew cab short beds. I found this site and boy am I glad I did. Tons of info and positive attitudes around here and I just wanted to compliment you all on a great site.
Of course, the reason I came here was to research my new found obsession, the 73-91 crew cab short bed. I have been looking for one for a while now, knowing it was unlikely I would find a shorty. I was keeping my options open to 2wd and long beds though the end goal has always been a 4x4 short. Well, yesterday I got lucky, I think. I spotted a 76 CCSB on CL with a TBI 350 and 4L80E. Complete with the dash cluster, grille, seats I think, and doors off of the donor suburban. I'll have some more pics later, but this was all I could snap this morning after arriving back home with my new found toy at 1 am. |

Re: New to the forum, glad I found it!
Thanks guys, I felt pretty lucky to find it. Especially since I was planning on doing a 6" lift and 35's. I'll get more pics over the next few days.
My plans are just to build a nice pickup with reasonable driveability and a nice finish. I want it to be comfortable for camping trips and snow runs. I'm not building a mud runner with this one. I'd like for it to one day have a vortec 454, but we'll see how the little mouse pulls it around in the meantime. You'll see later, but the interior is 4 different colors, and the door panels are red, I was thinking about sticking with that since my original plan has always been for the exterior to be a red. Maybe paint all the metal interior stuff black and re cover the seats red? I don't know, just spitballing. anybody familiar with a color called "Amberglow Met"? I mixed it for a guy at work and kinda fell in love with it, even though it is a FORD color... Last edited by Love2Ride450; 02-22-2011 at 10:12 PM. |

Re: New to the forum, glad I found it!
It appears my memory could be failing me, cuz I can't find that color right now. Oh well, I won't be ready for that for a few months at least.

Re: New to the forum, glad I found it!
Welcome to the board! Your truck looks great the way it is. I like the blacked out look. What year ford did the color come from? I may be able to help you find it.

Re: New to the forum, glad I found it!
Yeah, I don't mind the flat black look for now, but there are quite a few dents and dings that I plan on removing, and I have never owned a rig with a primo paint job, so I want one. Also, for the last couple years I've been "apprenticing" on paint and body, and have been involved in a few primo paint jobs for other people.
I'm starting to think my memory sucks, cuz I did a search for that color name in Martin Senour (the paint I made it in for my customer) and can't find it. I think I printed a product sheet for it and stashed it, so I'll let you know what I find. This morning I pulled the driveline so I could replace what was left of the carrier bearing. It's supposed to snow here so I need to get it reliable. |

Re: New to the forum, glad I found it!
Welcome to the forum Love2Ride450. You have found a good place to be if your a CCSB fan. That seems to be the rage lately. Most of them on here are 2wds, so a big nasty 4wd is a nice change of pace.
Keep us updated if you ever find that color. We don't care if you paint it a Ford color as long as you don't run a Ford motor.

Re: New to the forum, glad I found it!
Yeah, your thread was one of the many I lurked. I found the sheet I stashed, the color is called "emberglow metallic" and it is a F**d color. I'm going to mix myself a pint and do a sprayout before I dive in. Posted via Mobile Device |
