New Pickup!

Hey all. Got a new (to me) pickup today! '94 Chevy K2500 4x4 reg. cab long box. It's got 200,000 miles on it, but the previous owner put a new 350 in about 60,000 miles ago. It's got new front fenders, new fuel pump, new brakes, new wheels, new AC compressor, new dual exhaust, new 4 wheel drive actuator, and Line-X in the bed. Had a budget of $5k, and I got under it by a ways. I'm freaking pumped! I've got a toolbox to put in it. I ordered running boards, bed rail caps, and mudflaps for it this afternoon. I've wanted a reg. cab for a long time, and got the wife convinced I needed one for a farm pickup. It's replacing my '91 GMC that you can see in the background of the pics. I figured after 300,000 miles, she'd done enough for now.

Re: New Pickup!

Cool, but now you're going to have to get the barbed wire tattoo on your left bicep so it matches the pinstripe when you're cruising with your arm out the window

Bahahaha you're right! I was just gonna take the pin striping off, but the tattoo definitely makes more sense.

Thanks guys. The more I drive this thing, the more I love it. I had a '94 in high school. It kind of takes me back being in this truck.

Yeah, that's what the wife said.

We take good care of our stuff. We had a '94 with 230,000 on the clock when we got rid of it. No rust or anything. Dad's got a '00 GMC with 160,000 on it that looks like it just came off the lot last week. I figure if I pay for something, I'm not gonna beat the crap out of it. Plus, my dad had an '81 GMC he bought new but sold a couple of years before I got to high school... I still get a little peeved at him when I think about it. I want to hang on to this so if I have a son we can work on it together and he can drive it if he wants. The fact that my brother does body work and my cousin is a mechanic also factored into the purchase.

Thanks! I'm trying to convince Dad to let me store the '91 in one of his sheds so I can restore it some day. It was my first truck... Dad bought it in '94 or '95, and I started driving it in 2000. Lots of memories in that beast.

Re: New Pickup!

Sweet that's not a bad looking truck at all I would defiantly no mind owning it in a heartbeat! There's not the room that the extended cabs have but I defiantly have a soft spot for long box reg. cab trucks haha!

Here ya go:

1991 GMC 2500 Heavy half. Had 248,525 on the odometer when it quit working 7 years ago. Put a new 350 in shortly after. Never had a problem with the tranny or transfer case. It needs new front fenders, new rockers and cab corners, and below the driver's door there's about a 4 inch diameter hole rusted out in the frame. The interior also needs redone - the headliner came down a few years ago, the door panels are shot, and the door locks have an interesting trick where they like to lock when you shut the door and won't unlock until you roll the window down and unlock them with the key. Had a little dusting of snow today - sorry about that. For fun I also added a picture of the '94 Chevy 2500 heavy half I drove for a couple of years in college. Had 225,000 on it when we got rid of it shortly after I took that picture.
