Actually custom front grille
So I figured I'd try this before I bought one. I really like the stock 81 grille'sbut I'm adding a twist to it. Im going to still paint it black chrome and put some silver mesh behind it. What do you guys think. Keep it or buy one from LMC? (Billet/thin bar badgeless) Who else has pics?!

Re: Actually custom front grille
Keep it, or buy a new one and send this one to me. I like that a guy from NC appreciates the World Champion SF Giants enough to paint his truck and grill orange and black.

Re: Actually custom front grille
Well. Im more of a Harley fan myself. Da*n Fords cant have all the Harley trucks. Thanks for the compliment. I wont be sure if I'm going to keep it until I put the mesh on. I hope that wont gay it up. Im thinking it might give it a little bit of an Avalanche grille look to it. More pix this Sunday or Monday

Re: Actually custom front grille
Its very possible. This is my 1st truck. And Most of its not stock. VIN reads a Standard straight 6. I bought it as an AT 350/350.

Re: Actually custom front grille
I say keep it and spray it black chrome. It wouldn't much work. The factory grilles look better to me than the reproduction grilles. What kind of paint are you going to use?

Re: Actually custom front grille
Im still waiting to pick the mesh up tomorrow night. It didnt come out as flawless as I had hoped but the whole truck looks clean yet driven. Why not the grille too... Here it is so far. More to come soon.

Re: Actually custom front grille
I used this base coat/clear coat 2 can kit from Duplicolor. If the solvents in the paint had not have wrinkled the plastic on the grille it would have looked better. But atleast it matches the truck still by looking good yet used.

Re: Actually custom front grille
You are correct. I meant to say 85-87 not 86-87. The obvious difference is the later grill had a wider color band in the middle.

Re: Actually custom front grille
Did you use a prep solvent to clean all the contaminents from the grille? I have done that before and it wrinkled on the parts I didn't clean properly. I think it turned out great. I'd rock it! I may try the Duplicolor this weekend on some chrome pieces I have.
