Finally one worth keeping!

I never thought it would be as difficult as it was to find my ideal truck in my price range, and while not ideal I think I did pretty well with this one.

My requirements were:
Longbed: I like to haul stuff and I just prefer the look
Well running motor that doesn't need a ton of work
Automatic Trans
Little rust, paint preferably.
Essentially just a decent driver that my neighbors wouldn't complain about being in the driveway.

Here's what I got
1969 Custom Camper C20
Factory power steering
Dealer installed A/C
Factory 3 point seat belts.
Crate 350 with less than 15,000 documented miles.
Factory Cruise control (Non-Op at the moment, probably will remove and sell)
Newer Tires.
dual flowmaster exhaust and hedman headers
Very little rust and any cancer was taken care of prior to paint. (To my knowledge)
Custom Auto Sound "factory look" radio
And many more other factory options
Decent paint job by the previous (original) owners son.
And likely one of my favorite features is the records from the very beginning. It's awesome to see all the work this guy put into this truck and that it was used as a delivery truck for the man's furniture store (still in business btw.)

I purchased it for $2,500

My plans as of now are to:
Drive it like crazy and have some fun with it (already done!)
Install top tailgate trim (missing from PO)
Clean up the engine bay (too many wires all over the place, needs looms and ties)
Drop it (likely 2/4 or 3/5)
replace front bumper with new chrome
replace back bumper with sport bumper and install hidden hitch.. (Still deciding to do this or install step bumper)
Install new chrome side doors for the side tanks (tanks removed)
Install sound deadener in cab
Replace all door rubber and felts.
Install Passenger side mirror
Raptor line the bed after sanding down surface rust.
New Rims and tires when these are worn down (Bummer it's 8 lug)
Power brakes.
Eventually a new Grill shell as this one has a couple decent dents in the center.
And of course other maintenance as needed.

Congratulations that's very nice. Always nice when you can pick one up and have some record of previous work that has been done. Welcome to the board.

Re: Finally one worth keeping!

Haha! Thanks guys! I think I did pretty well with it too. I'm not too overly concerned with the neighbors, but one of them is a family of circus people (literally.. No joke here!) and for some reason they think they own the neighborhood and call to complain about anything and everything. Hopefully I can get moved into a new place with a garage I can store her in!

Screw that! Who elected them the taste police? They can call all they want, but if no law is broken it won't be long that the authorities will see where the problem lies.

Re: Finally one worth keeping!

What kind of pistol did you use? That looks like a lot of truck for the $$$.Great buy.

I just gotta ask,"Circus people complaining about how others live?" I've worked a couple of fairs and carnivals, and can tell you circus people look down on carnies but they are all pretty strage ducks.

Looks like an excellent deal for a very clean solid truck. That would be a keeper.

Re: Finally one worth keeping!

Thanks guys! The Circus people are crazy on so many levels. I just wish their was a law against keeping tight ropes and hula hoops in the front yard. They haven't said anything or complained about this truck. Nor should they be able to, its registered and insured and a solid looking truck. There's uglier vehicles on the block!
