Re: Finally got a truck
How can i tell if I still have the original tranny, and would that be a 350 tranny?

Re: Finally got a truck
Here is a link that will tell you what trans you have based on the pan shape.
http://www.maliburacing.com/auto_tranny_id.htm Can't tell how you would determine if it was the actual original unit to your truck though.

Re: Finally got a truck
Change in regards to what?
As far as the quieter exhaust goes, just running it out past the rear of the rear axle will help the sound a bunch (get the exits away from the cab). Mine is set up like yours (SB400 w/TH400) and has dual exhaust with glasspacks that exits behind the rear tires. It has a nice deep sound that is still quiet. I have never been a fan of running the exhaust straight out the back. You may also want to check the engine casting number and see if it was swapped out at some point. Mine ended up being a 73-75 400 small block (factory was 327). Casting numbers are on the top/rear of the block behind the distributor and can be decoded on-line. I was in the same boat as you (looking for a SWB C10) and ended up in the same place (68 C20 LWB). No regrets at all (but still would like to get a SWB at some point). Enjoy your toy.
