Sheet metal...who to buy from?
I've never ordered sheet metal before but need to order several replacement panels for my '72s cab. I need inner and outer rockers, cab supports, floor sections, etc. I get an LMC catalog every 3 or 4 months but I've heard bad things about their parts...is there a consensus choice among the board on whom to buy from?
Also, I need cab corners, but not not the "full" corners...does anyone produce smaller corner sections or will I just have to trim what I need from the full corners? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Sheet metal...who to buy from?
I've been in Wes's shop/store and seen and held the sheet metal he sells and uses on his own projects and customer projects and it was first rate stuff www.classicheartbeat.com
He is a vendor here too. One of these days I'll show up at his door with a big sack full of cash and haul home the pieces to redo the 71. He may not be the least expensive but the parts are great and the service is great. |

Re: Sheet metal...who to buy from?
it might be helpful if you would include your state at least so we could advise you of the best place for you to save money in shipping and get the best part/price also. there are several board members who have shown by there actions to be very good people to deal with...

I'll give my thumbs up for Wes also. I know you will get the
addition of dealing with an honest dude who knows our trucks and in my book, that's added value. We have a great group of vendors so you might want to also visit the other vendors here on the board and find your right fit if shipping is a concern...considering we don't know where you're located. |

Re: Sheet metal...who to buy from?
Almost any of the BB vendors will carry the best part available since they build trucks from what they sell.Since you're near Dallas, you may want to try making a trip over to the swap meet.I can't remember the name of it but it was held at the stadium in Arlington a few years ago(it's a yearly or more often event). You may want things sooner though.Doing the swap meet lets you actually look and touch the part and will save you shipping.

Re: Sheet metal...who to buy from?
What I have found is that Wes has the stuff we need, and he can beat the prices offered by the people who make the stuff.

Re: Sheet metal...who to buy from?
Ooh, thanks. I'll definitely be ordering from MB&G.
A couple of related questions....I need to replace 3 of my 4 cab supports, a good sized floor section on the drivers side, and both rockers and cab corners...can I do this with the cab still on the frame as long as I brace everything? Also, sort of a chicken or the egg question...which piece goes in first? For the drivers side (worst section of the cab) I'll be using the outer floor section that extends 3 or 4 inches into the floor area and has the integrated inner rocker panel. I would assume that I need to: 1. Install the outer floor section 2. Then install the floor section. 3. Then install the front cab supports.
