Re: Wear safety glasses!

A friend of mine almost completely lost vision in one eye while using a bench grinder at work. His pupil now looks like a cat's pupil. When they drilled into his eye to remove it, they were unable to remove the sliver without it tearing his eye up pretty bad!

Re: Wear safety glasses!

The dirt bike goggles is a great idea! I have made the trip to the Eye Foundation in Birmingham to have a rather large piece of metal drilled out of my eye...It definitely sucked! I have had one other occurance of metal in the eye, but I immediately got my "magnet on a stick" and fished around really close to my eyeball and actually got it out. But, again, the goggles thing is uber smart!

Re: Wear safety glasses!

I had the use of protective lenses put into perpective for me by a guy at work. I would be lazy sometime, figuring it's a quick job...will only take a second. A fellow worker would bug me about and I would joke saying that I have safety contacts in.
One day he shrugged his shoulders and said "Hey, if you want to take a chance that you won't see your boys grow up, be my guest."
I always use all personal safety equipment available now, for any job I am doing.

Re: Wear safety glasses!

I just got home from an eye doctor visit for rusted metal in my eye. He removed it without incident or permanent damage(I hope) but boy does it hurt!
I will NEVER again work in the garage without eye protection.
Looking into over the glasses goggles as I type.
