6.0 swap, PB vacuum connection??

Here is a picture of what I have. Seems GM stuck a plug in the back of the intake with a quick disconnect fitting.

So I stopped at the dealer today thinking surely they also made a fitting with a hose barb for vacuum assist brakes. I know all these newer trucks aren't hydroboost.
Well according to the parts guy, GM doesn't make any sort of hose barb fitting. I find it hard to believe that GM made this intake with a vacuum port, then went through the trouble to design a quick disconnect fitting with a plug,,,and then not offer a hose barb in it's place. Why go through that trouble??

Anyway, I know this swap has been done before,,,,what did you guys do for your 3/8 vacuum hose on the PB booster?? Find a fitting from somwhere else?? Thanks.

Are you kidding me?? I figured there would be one, since GM went through the trouble to plug it with a quick disconnect.
Guess the guy at the counter didn't have a clue.

It's a good number on GMpartsdirect. Unfortunately no picture supplied. In any event, I'll run back to the dealer with a number in hand now

Thanks Ksstamp.

Btw, there is more than one nipple fitting that will go in there....different sizes for different hoses. No, I don't have a part number for you.

You could try our Lsx swap section or Ls1tech, etc.

I'll let you know if I run across what I used and what size it was.

As an aside, I'm pretty unimpressed with most parts counter people. They just have no initiative. This includes the dealers, autozone, auto salvagers, etc. Thank goodness for sights like these!

Re: 6.0 swap, PB vacuum connection??

Ya, that picture that KSS supplied looks to be about 3/8, and should get the job done for me. I ordered it yesterday.

I like the LS swap section (well scattered for lack of a better description) I've found some usefull information there. My problem is you can look for hours and read through alot of rubbish and jibber jabber before you find what you are looking for, and sometimes you still don't find the answer. Some of those threads are 50+ pages long.

What would be nice is to take the usefull information, remove the posts we don't need to clean it all up, some form of spread sheet with Q & A's,,,then make it a sticky. It would take someone days or weeks to go through and clean all those LS threads up like that though

It's a pretty straight forward swap, it's just the little junk that you can't find anywhere, (like this vacuum nipple) and I've never read about that really slows you down. I'm making my own motor mounts, Advance Adapters had all the 4L60E swap parts I needed, and even cut me a break on the prices. Most of the other swap parts I'm using from the truck I pulled the engine from, some other stuff I'm making or modifying to work.
Such as the factory temp sender. I tapped the passenger side head to accept the NPT size for the factory temp sender. I also purchased the oil block off cap above the filter, so I could also tap that to the NPT I need for the factory 1/8 oil line. I wanted to keep the factory gauges working.

There is just alot of little stuff to these swaps that really isn't mentioned.
