Old school molding on a newer truck? Possible?
I have a 89 CC Dually, But I love the 2-tone pre '80 trucks with the side moldings. I was wondering if you could make the front molding work on a square nose trucks. I am sure the rest of the trucks contours are the same(to do the fenders back).

I don't think it would look right IMO. The rail-road molding I think you are referring to follows the same contours all the way to the front of the fenders. The fenders on the older trucks then angle inward a bit, so that the molding highlights the raised portion.
Later model fenders do not have this angle in, they gradually roll the fender line into it, so I am not sure it would look good. |

Re: Old school molding on a newer truck? Possible?
I agree that the molding highlights the 'raised' portion of the bodyline...but I am thinking the inward slant towards the front grille starts at the molding. I have no issue flilling the side marker lights and using 70's style vertical markers. I am looking to make people have to think twice whether or not it came that way.
If anyone has pictures of front fenders of 2-tone trucks, older and newer- that would be sweet. I am going on a search now. BTW- Got my LMC catalog today!!! WOOHOO! They are going to love me! But looking at the moldings there- I think I can do it....they are more expensive than I was hoping though.

The real problem with a dually is finding the mouldings that go on the dually fenders.
I can't find any

As far as I know there's no molding on the actual hip fenders. I'm sure the partial pieces are hard to find for the dually beds though.

Just looked through the LMC Catalog- and they don't offer the dually fender pieces. That could be a problem.
BTW- there was a 2-tone truck thread around here, but I can't find it now.grrr. here's a pic of the rear fender molding piece the ties the molding in together at the fender.

I have wondered if this would work also. Post pics if you gather the parts and move forward with the project. I would like to two tone my truck too.

BING--OOO!!!!! It will work! fill in the marker- use the vertical marker- and I think it'll be sweet. I wish that truck was 2-toned, to give a better idea.
