Hood ?
I am looking at a truck that the owner says is all original never painted never wrecked but the underside of the hood is black is that stock I thought they were body color? The truck is a 1971 C20

It's possible it came that way but being as they're 40 plus years old someone may have decided to shoot it black on the inside. I did that to one of mine years ago. It was getting stained so I cleaned and painted it.
I'm thinking of doing the same to my 68 GMC since it's also stained with red iron oxide. Previous owner was a cattle rancher and drove a lot of dirt roads. I like the black better anyway. |

Underside of my hood is black, not body color. I bought it that way in 1977 and the truck appeared to be 100% stock and untouched, so I believe it came like that from the factory. Seems like I read on here once that they came either way, black or body color...

i had a blue 67 and i know it wasn,t repainted and the under side of the hood was a flater black. thought that was wierd.

most were body color, but there was still a lot that were black for some reason.

Mine is black too. The truck has been painted blue 3 times, including the inner parts of the front fenders.
