Fuel Sender Question
OK, so I got my new sending unit from Classic Parts and see that it has a different connection than my old one. The new wire connnector looks like it takes a connector that slips over and snaps into place (no threads). My old one was a threaded stud that a ring terminal connected to.
Not sure if I have enough room at the base where it is threaded to the base with a nut to put my ring terminal under or not, and I haven't seen the slip-over connection for sale before. Any idea where I would find the newer connector (NAPA maybe)? Thanks

Re: Fuel Sender Question
Mine has a slip connector that just slips on and snaps into place at the fuel sending unit. My truck is a 69. Did the older units for these trucks have a different connector than what the later trucks do?

Re: Fuel Sender Question
Not sure. Mine is a threaded stud that comes out of the sender for the wire to connect to.

Re: Fuel Sender Question
Ill check LMC tonight and look around to see if there different for certain years, trucks get changed and modded throughout the years which can end up sucking to find the part needed, maybe call up Classic Parts and tell them what you need and see if you can exchange it. Im suprised nobody else has chimed in yet.

Re: Fuel Sender Question
Thanks for the help.
When I pulled the old unit, I found that someone had scabbed in a universal sender with a mess of tubing, coat hanger, etc. attached in an attempt to make it fit. Installed the new unit and NAPA had a connector that was close enough that I was able to make it work. Thanks again.

Re: Fuel Sender Question
Glad to hear its working again. Sorry it took me so long to get back on, been busy with work. I wonder if its not a fuel sending unit for a 60-66 chevy truck because they have the ring terminal. This is what a 67-72 fuel sender should look like http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto...html?3593=2631. Doesnt show a decent picture of the top though.

Re: Fuel Sender Question
NAPA had a terminal that was a bit small, but with some massaging from an awl, and it worked fine.

Re: Fuel Sender Question
My 71 has the snap on connector if this helps at all. Just changed out the original sender, the wire has not been changed.
