Question Car Trailer???

I am thinking about building a 16' open car trailer (it needs to be a dovetail too) anyways I was wondering if anybody has plans for one? This is my first time building a trailer. Now I don't like to brag or anything but I am a pretty good welder! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can get a welder project book on ebay that has plans. And Northerntools.com sells an 18' car hauler plan and I think JC whitney does as well.

I have a locally made eighteen footer and can make some suggestions:

Eighteen foot. Sixteen is too short.

4 foot dove tail. No rinky dink 2 footer.

Slide out ramps made from grating. No carrying heavy ass ramps.

Put a 12" c-channel in the front between the end and first crossmember in order to have a winch mounting point.

Leave space on the front to mount a strap storage box. I used a pickup beddrail box on the 2' square tube rail on the front of mine.

Steel diamond plate. Wood costs almost as much and doesn't last very long.

You can never have enough tie down points. Both in the floor (D-rings) and the sides (stake pockets)

Electric brakes on both axles.

My 2 cents . . .... 18ft trailers will re-sell later easier than a 16ft.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
