i dont think you are trying to save money ....i think you just like the challenge of seeing if you can get it in there !!!!! YOU CAN DO IT !!! then you will have pass and driver climate control ...how cool is that

What about pulling the stock dash off the firewall, fit up the A/C unit then reinstall the stock dash over the top. You could then locate the stock metal dash panel a little farther off the firewall than it was stock to give you the room you need. Some metal filler panels on the dash top and sides will be needed but it can still look stock when you are done, just stretched a little.

I like it, sounds like a good fallback plan. Nobody would ever really realize the change I suspect.
