I was looking at adding power brakes and power steering to 56 half ton. Was that an option that year in case i have to find a donor truck? I dont know where to start

Re: brakes/steering 56
there are a lot of options for power brakes, some mount a booster to the firewall and hang the pedals, but what I did, and what is much easier is to buy a power brake kit from ebay or a common parts supplier... there are booster kits that bolt to the original spot under the cab. Some even come with a custom made brake pedal for those that do not have the original pedals...
http://www.classicparts.com/Master-C.../products/113/ several options for power brakes at that site, may be able to save money by buying on ebay... I have a firebird subframe that solved my power steering problem... but there are options for the stock setup. the same supplier, ClassicParts.com has a kit that allows you to use a later model power steering box... but I have no experience with this kit. you might want to further research this link...http://www.classicparts.com/1947-59-...ctinfo/76-977/ there are more than one way to skin this cat however, and some others may be able to lead you in a different direction...
