What's this bumper
Picked up a 68 short. Don't know if it orginal but looking for information about the bumper. The left side reads DEES CHEVY CO, the right, BILOXI MISS. THANKS

I think they were custom bumpers put on by the dealerships. Some of them can be quite collectible depending on the dealer name.... LockDoc

Back in the day a step bumper was a dealer option and most of them took advantage of the opportunity for a little free advertising.

I love those things. They only did that in certain parts of the country,mostly south and west. If it was a GMC dealer I'd make an offer. I'm fresh out of Chevys.

One for Holcolmb Chevrolet, where my uncle drove it off the lot new in 1967. The dealership is long gone, but the bumper survives.

Truck dealers just continued the practices followed by early automobile dealers. A whole lotta stuff was optional because it wasn't on them when new. Stuff like front and rear bumpers; heaters; horns; wipers, etc.
A new truck didn't come with any rear bumper unless it was spec'd on the order form by the dealer that ordered it. My rear step bumper didn't have any name embossed on it, so I have no idea where it was sold. I'd like to say I remember that dealership in Biloxi, but I can't swear to it. It seems that they were in downtown Biloxi, away from Highway 90, on the east side of Keesler AFB. That would have been in '67-8. At least, that's where the new car dealers were at that time...either there on on Pass Road, west of KAFB, going towards Gulfport.

I just bought a cool looking rear dealership bummper for my 67 long bed stepside truck.Paid 50.00 the bummper came from Oklahoma.

The 67 cab and bummper should be deliver this sunday.The truck was a short stepside from Oklahoma off the indian reservations.The cab had rust in the rockers panels,but not in the floor.One cab corner,not bad.A few more 67 truck parts and i will be ready to start building.

I work in Biloxi, and bought many parts from Dees over the years. The dealership is no longer there, and the lot has been leveled.
