67 gmc

I GUESS IT Had a muncie in it when he got it. Sorry Im new to this web site and i was trying to respond to peoples questions and i closed my thread. I have another question fro you guys. This 67 gmc short bed has coil spings in front and leaf spings in the back. The guy who has the truck says he's never seen that set up before. Is that common? I dont know much about that year of truck and he wants 5000$ for the truck. Im trying to get some pic of it to post. The only rust on the truck is the drip rail and lip of the front windsheild where the weather strip goes and a little on the back window. the rest of the body is in nice shape . The wood bed is gone. IT has a 283 motor with a muncie 4speed in it. The inside of the cab is nice and all stock no air, or power steering and drum brakes. He seems to thing its a good deal and ive tried looking for some for sale to compare but havent had much luck. i want that year truck just dont know if my (friend) is giveing me a good deal or not

Re: 67 gmc

'67 GMC's normally came with coil in front and leaf in the rear.
'67 Chevy's generally came with coils front and rear.

Does this truck come with extra parts?
The reason I ask is it appears to be a project (missing bumper, etc).

My first instinct is that it should be looked at very carefully
before committing any wheres near 5 grand.

Re: 67 gmc

i say that it is not worth the $5k price. maybe $3k. but if it comes with extra parts then it might be worth the $5k asking price

Re: 67 gmc

I believe gmc's in Canada had coil spring rear. ive owned at least 8 and never seen one here with leafs. reason for this is i believe is they were made in chevrolet plant in oshawa. they also have a similar serial # designation to chevy trucks rather than the system that gmc used in the states.

Re: 67 gmc

Ive had two with rear leafs and a bunch with coils. Coils were standard and more typical on either up here.

Re: 67 gmc

The SM465 is a muncie tranny, that's the common truck "granny gear" tranny, so it all depends on what you mean when you say muncie.
That appears to be a decent looking truck. Can you get it out of the garage and get better pictures?

Re: 67 gmc

I have 3 - 67's, 1 GMC and 2 Chevys, all have coils. All three were built in Oshawa, Ont.

Re: 67 gmc

Leaf springs are listed on the SPID of my 69 GMC so it appears coils were standard by '69. It seems most 67 GMC's, at least from fremont plant, do not have a SPID.

As for price, it all depends on condition. Look at cab supports, rockers, fender cups, etc.. This looks like the base model (not custom or super custom). which isn't a big deal unless you are into chrome. The base model 67's far outnumber the customs and super customs in the 67 GMC's based on my observations.
