Re: 53 Pickup window conversion

I am a 'Task Force' guy but if im not mistaken the 51-55 AD trucks only had the vent window because they removed the vent in the cab...
I think you can get a window setup from a 47-50 truck as they came stock without a vent window...

someone correct me if im wrong. ... but look at the earlier trucks...

Here is the window frame for the 47-50 trucks

from the sponsor, ClassicParts.com

I might have been off a year, 47-50.

Re: 53 Pickup window conversion

Thanks for the reply, but I think that the pre-53 trucks (no vent window) have a window glass that has a medal "molding" around it which requires a larger opening between the inner and outer skins of the door. I'm hoping that someone makes a kit that includes glass, mounting hardware and power window motion. I once saw one for a 65 but don't remember who had it. Scott

Here's the Custom Classic Truck link describing the procedure and there is a list with part numbers on page 3.

Re: 53 Pickup window conversion

If your truck is not yet painted, and you didn't want to tackle the swap, you could always track down a set of doors off of a early truck..
not always the most convenient solution but it would definitely do the trick...

Re: 53 Pickup window conversion

I looked into doing a door switch on my 55 1st series. My dad has a 47 GMC with ne piece glass in the doors. If you switch door, you will also have issues with the door latches as the door with 1 pc glass had the twist type door handles and the 2 piece had push button handles.
