Starter Woes

The starter in my '67 decided to take a dirt nap. I want to go with one of those mini-torque GM starters for mid-90's trucks like several of the guys have had success with. Heard they were good if you have headers. Got this one from the local Napa, went to bolt it up using the original bolts, and they are too long (measured 4 11/16".) They bottom out about 1/2" from tightening. From what the stores carry, it seems like GM has 3 starter bolt sizes. Did a little research and decided I must need the middle size, which is listed on Arp's website as a 3.7 (measured 3 11/16".) Tried that, and it's too short. So my question is, did I get the wrong model starter, or have I just not looked hard enough for the right bolt? The engine is a 350 out of a '73 C10. Tranny is TH350.

Re: Starter Woes

Those nose cones are metric an engine block is standard , the factory bolts should be a lil loose in the nose where the knerls are.
If you have a starter shop close a 84-1507 is the bolt number you need from WAI ind. they are metric size an standard threads the right length an have knerls.
you can just washer up the long bolts but if it gets out of line it will eat flywheel up pretty quick.
