metal sheds

i have a 10 x 10 metal shed that i really could use for storage but here in the n/w there is a constant moisture build up on the inside of the roof im not sure if its coming from the ground or just condensation from outside to inside temperature differences but in any case it "rains" inside. it was suggested to use spray foam to eliminate the tempersture variations at the roof level also i would like to build a wood deck to set it on and thought this would help.
did anyone rectify this with there shed? whats your thoughts, these come up frequently on c.l. either free or cheap in decent shape. thanks

Re: metal sheds

I have two,, it's not that much of an issue, if you cover stuff..
you can add plastic roof sheets(lowes 22'by 22") cut down to the roof braces so that the water runs to one side and down that wall or make a gutter..
I rap anything I put in mine,, wd40 then rapped and labled,
wood or cloth will get more from the ground than the roof anyways..
I have a smaller one 8 by 8 that I use to build engines or paint. it has a fairly cheap solar panel, a used 12 battery and a dc to ac converter, and a dehumidifer..
stays nice and dry..

Re: metal sheds

If you vent the roof it will let out the moisture and stop the rain. The dirt floor is were the water is coming from. You can keep the water from coming up through by laying down thick poly and the a layer of gravel, Then you can do your decking. But it would be best to concrete the floor instead of wood.

Re: metal sheds

Agreed, the moisture is coming up from the dirt. Lay down some thick plastic and it will stop.
