Awesome Day

Well today at work i was bored sitting in my office....So I went and tinkered with my engine. It sitting on the stand so I put the spark plugs in then the flexplate, then starter. then I primed it and finished putting on the alt a nd p/s pump. Then it got out of hand. next thing i knew my foreman and I had the headers on and the dist installed along with wires. Then came trouble....on went the fuel pump as we pushed it out the bay door. Well in other wordds we broke the cam in running the engine on the stand.... WOW I was like a kid at christmas, smile form ear to ear.
\The engine sounds great I love the cam and gear drive. Sounds great straight out of the headers too. now just to tweak the carb.

Sorry bout the length but i just had to share this, i think I'll have perma smile for the rest of the week. gonna fire it up again next week so the fiance can here it...she likes the loud ones with lopey cams...

too keep it cool
i ran cold water into the upper rad hose with the tstat out and pulled the drain plugs out of the block, the water never got hotter than the hot water out of the tap. I had a digitla temp reader amd the blok hit 69 celsius and my aluminum heads were under 40

Your foreman helped you put your headers on? Good work if you can find it, eh?

Bet that was fun! So you didn't have any problems firing it on the engine stand. Good to know.

the engine stand handled it well, i buzzed it up to 4 grand a few times. There were no vibrations or anything.man it sounded wicked, nice lope to the cam, loud out of the headers, very nice. only problem was a small oil leak at the back pf the intake. \guess ill pullit a nd reseal it next week. Sure cant wait to put it in the truck though

You're all set....a foreman that helps you put headers on (I need your job), and a girl that loves the sound of an open headered, cammed SBC....you're a very lucky man
