roadster windshield frame

i just picked up a72 jimmy roadster. i was getting hammered today by all the guys in the area about not having a header on the top of the windshield. they keep saying that the windshield will come out or twist and crack etc. i saw 5050 has the same setup. any comments or suggestions about my setup

Re: roadster windshield frame

I have a 72 cst 2wd blazer that I have considered cutting my windshield frame also! I don't think it should be a big problem with a static drop as opposed to a bagged truck! My blazer is in great shape and I don't get any cowl shake to talk about! If the new shield is glued in...it should have a little give in it!For street use not racing or off roading and limited driveing...since you won't have a top anymore...What the heck! Since yours is already cut...GO FOR IT! It looks great! If you do have any flex...add some frame supports!

I've seen a few of them like that. It's not like you're going to be taking it off-road where the frame is going to get twisted. It will be cool.

Re: roadster windshield frame

cowl is welded down shut. but they took the fenders and welded nuts on them on the tabs where they bolt to the truck, them they cut access holes from the inside to insert bolts to mate with the nuts on fenders
