braje adjustment ?'s

so i was cruisin in street wheelers friday night and my brakes seemed to be stickin so i pulled up on the pedal and the two rods underneath came APART so here i was in the middle of a 500 car/ truck cruise with no brakes good thing i had my ebrake. so i pulled into an alley and me and my buddy procedded tro take everything apart screwed the two rods back together only to find out after we screwed it in way to far and now my brake lights stay on all the time. the adjuster is adjusted as far as it will go now is there any other way to adjust this other than taking everything out again and unscrewing it a couple turns?
help me please im getting sick of undoing the battery everytime i stop
