Interesting CL ad (not mine)

I am new to these trucks so I don't know if this "original" LS9 corvette drivetrain option is for real or not. I have read a few comments on here that lead me to believe it to be a myth. Experts, please educate us newbies.

Re: Interesting CL ad (not mine)

there is no such thing as corvette option anything on any pickup. It's the same crap sellers always try to pull on anything. If they can say vette in the description, then it is worth twice as much. There's probably more "corvette 327" small blocks today, then were ever installed in corevettes.
The seller is either trying to pull one over on the buyer, or he had one pulled on him.

Re: Interesting CL ad (not mine)

don't know anything about it but I had a 69 gmc super custom that had 300 heads on a 327.I bought it from the original owner and he said they where factory. The numbers on the block matched the truck when I checked so I checked the dated codes on the heads and they where late 68.turned out to be 325hp 327.I have also seen a 69 cst swb that was bb 396 had rectangle port heads and intake same as 375 hp 396.I can't say for positve that the heads and intake came on the truck but the block #s matched .It was black, posi rear, heater delete, radio delete, manual brakes and steering. The posi rear ,396 ,cst option, and black paint where all on the spid. The guy trying to sale it said it was ordered by a drag racer. The cab was rusted bad but if I could have scraped up the $5600 he was asking I would have bought it and this was about 1990.at the time it was the only heater delete I had every seen and I have only seen a couple on this board since.

Re: Interesting CL ad (not mine)

He's wrong about the Corvette part, but LS9 is the correct RPO code for a 350. It's just not the Corvette LS9 that's out today!

Re: Interesting CL ad (not mine)

Actually there was a Covette option :P

It was a small journal 327 and the pad on the front of the block should look similar to this one below.

Re: Interesting CL ad (not mine)

heater delete was through 72, possibly later, but more common in early years. It was most common in 67 becouse even though the heater was base equipment, you still had to treat it like an option and request it. If you (and the guy at the dealer) forgot to check the box, then it was a credit towards the cost of the truck. Basicly, they'd discount the truck X dollars.
