Where can I buy a tailgate protector? cap for a 71 stepside?

i'd look into a generic one size fits all in like jcwhitney or my local pepboys has them in stock// just good measurements of your tailgate and u should b able to size one to fit

I been looking allso ,need one to go with the bed rail covers I got, all the ones I have found don't have the nice round radius the tailgate our tailgate has.

I took one off a ranger, shortned it to fit my stepside left some short tabs that I bent down to cover the space between the end of the top rail and the stake bed pockets. I put it on the rail under the rear window. It worked fine for that, I also have a piece of diamond plate for the bed floor.

kaycee if you find one please let me know where, the last one I had I found in the back of a Autozone proped up on the accesories isle, that was 10 yrs. ago.
Until reciently I had no idea they were so hard to find.

lowflya have u tried this ? the fleet tailgates and stepside are not the same contour.I was wondering about this allso but cannot confirm that it will fit,hate to spend $$ on something that wont work.

Yeah thats exactly what I'm afrade of I've been thinking I might have to find a model that they do make a cover for dodge ford what ever that would fit I'm was going to try this post before I did. I guess I'm going to drive the mall and grocery store parking lots till I see one I think I can modify to fit, now that I didn't wont to do but I wont a tail gate cap. If I get one to fit I'll PM you guys and let you know what I did and maybe send pics of the end result. Might take some time tho.
