Tach help!

Ok so I got my old lady to approve me spending a few grand and rebuilding the enigne. I am now in parts mode trying to figure out what parts to buy but all the distributor lingo is over my head. I need a distributor that works with my original in dash tach. I have read some of the distributors won't work. Any suggestions on what distributor to use? Also is it vacum advance that I need as opposed to mechanical? Thanks guys you have been a great help!

Re: Tach help!

Great! Do I need all the seperate stuff like an ignition box/coil and so forth or can an HEI simply hook to the stock ignition?

Re: Tach help!

You could pull one out of a junk yard if you wanted that has the coil intigrated.

One thing you didn't say is if you have a 4X, there are 2 different enging positions regarding the placement of the motor mounts, on a 4X with a high hump center section of the floor the enging us higher up and rearward so you cant use a larger diameter hei, I had to use a Mallory unilite with an external coil.
