New (to me) truck. Need help with passenger door lock.
Don't worry, I'll have pictures up soon enough, but it's a pretty run of the mill white '81 3/4ton with a 350/4speed/unknown transfer/14bolt rear.
Anyway, I'm probably going to have a lot of questions, first being, My passenger door lock won't stay unlocked when I close the door, it falls down. I fished around the bottom of the door, and found a small spring with maybe 1 or 2 coils, and hooks at 10 and 2 o' clock. Is this used to keep the lock stationary? How would I go about getting it re attached? Can you provide pictures? Please and Thank you if anyone has any answers. |

prolly easiest to disassemble the door and remove the lock and see where it sits... then try to reattach it... in all likelyhood there is a problem why it popped out but i will go in my basement later and see if i can find and photograph a passenger side door lock mechanism for you

It all goes in the latch mechanism. The door lock just slides into a slot on the latch. You could always take both latches out of the doors and compare if you had to.
