Sway bars

Has anyone installed a rear sway bar on their truck that didn't originally come with one. How much did it improve handling? Was it a pain to install?

i installed mine.

it wasnt a pain at all to install, took about 45 minutes. really easy.

it did improve the handling quite a bit, especially on the highway when you are going at a higher speed

We call em sway bars, anti-roll bars, anti sway bars, stabilizer bars and a few others as well.

Ocbaud, 454ss............Did they negatively affect ride quality?

Did you change the fronts as well, or just the rears? Is there much of an advantage changing the fronts too?

i havent changed my front one yet. the front is the stock 1 1/8th" bar, the same size as the rear hellwig bar.

now normally, you would want a bigger bar in the front, but i havent gotten around to upgradeing to a 1 1/4" bar from a 3/4 ton yet.

The 454ss came stock with 1 1/4 front bar but I upgrade it to polly bushings and endlinks, feels much tighter.

I've got a longbed with a 1 1/8" front bar and soft rubber mounts from a junkyard. I think it corners very well. The new coil springs may help there a little too.
