not sure what to do.

Not sure what to do. been waiting for my drop parts FOR EVER (almost a year)finaly got them. now i'm wanting to put them in.
truck was saftied less than a year ago. i put in a new upper ball joint and ods and ends.

my question is do i put new ball joints, tie rods, adjustment sleaves etc while its apart or just use whats in the beast as they were good and passed saftey less than a year ago (8 months ago) and hardly driven on.

the reason i ask is it's going to take a bit to save up an get all new parts and i want ot get the kit on and drive it.

Dru

the bottom ball joints arn't and it does need adjustment sleeves but the truck has 195 XXX KM on it and like i said 8 months ago it passed a saftey. i dont mind pulling it back apart to do ball joints and stuff later i just want to lower it. springs on the way and i want to enjoy it not wait for ever.

If the balljoints aren't sloppy I'd run them.

Re: not sure what to do.

Yeah, no sense in changing the joints if they are tight. Just redid the ones on my K10. Replaced one, and the dust boots. My boots were worn out though.

Re: not sure what to do.

Yep, I agree 100%. Plus the price to replace all of them is a bit much... Check the boots, grease them up, and run it.

The only place I don't mind replacing parts that look ok is the brakes. going to be rebuilding my 12-Bolt and I haven't even pulled it apart yet but I know I'm changing the wheel cylinders. For the price it's good insurance.

Re: not sure what to do.

I'd put new in they are only around $23 each and a pain in the bum to do. while there are out. Not sure if they are 100% the same but I just did a set on a 1975,1 ton van RV and I needed a press to get the lowers out and in, I had to take the A-arm right off. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Re: not sure what to do.

The original ball joints in my '78 were still very much usable when I dropped my truck in October of last year. Use 'em.

Re: not sure what to do.

The only dust boots I could find came with new BJs. The old ones were fine, actually low milers.

Re: not sure what to do.

Not sure about the ball joints, but for tie rods I used part number 9.13119R from Energy Suspension. They look funny in the package, but fit good after tightened down. They stretched into a shape like a factory one.

I'll check to see about the ball joints.

Edit,

No luck through Energy. They only seem to sell with the ball joint as well. Could probably measure the ball joint, and look at their size chart.
