Clutch size in 69 C30 dually with SM 465
Does anybody know if the clutch on a 69 C30 dually with an SM465 is likely to be an 11 or a 12 inch clutch? Mine is chattering and I'd like to relplace it. I'd rather not wait till I have it apart to have to order the new one up. They are asking me the size at the parts store when I try to place an order.

I would say 12".....but 11 or 12 should both fit your flywheel. crazyL

So is perhaps the 11" standard duty with the 12 being heavy duty?

12" for sure if it came with a 350 or 400 engine. 99% chance it is 12" no matter what engine in that truck.

I have the same set up in my 70 1 ton GMC and it's a 12 inch clutch plate. Just looked at that very thing over the weekend. Ours is all apart so it was easy to measure the clutch disk..

Re: Clutch size in 69 C30 dually with SM 465
So I picked up a 12" clutch. I've done the clutch on a 3 speed before and it was a really simple one man job that I easily accomplished from the bottom. I look at an SM465 with the PTO hooked up and think this one isn't so easy. It's a heavy bugger. For those of you that have done this job what's your take on it and have you got any tips? I'm thinking it might be less work to pull the engine, replace some seals and gaskets at the same time and do the clutch then. Opinions please?
