u bolts not staying tigvht

the ubolts on my dually loosen up every couple hundred miles, any ideas why? I used new hrdware and ubolts with the flip kit, even put new nuts on them. Should I try a nylon nut? Double them up?

Re: u bolts not staying tigvht

I would definitely use some kind of locking nut if they are backing off. Maybe some loctite too?

Did you try double nutting the U-bolts?

You could always drill and run safety wire.

Use nyloc nuts w/lock washers on the u-bolts.

Nylon nuts with lock washers and some loc-tite. Had the same problem with my 81 back in the day and this fixed it.

Re: u bolts not staying tigvht

most U-bolts will be 1/2X20. also make sure nothen is bend'n, does the brackets that sit on the spring fit tight against the plate on top ? if there is any room for movement the torque of the axle will find it and bend the brackets or stretch the bolt's. also I would'nt use lock nuts and lock washers together, just more room for strech'n the bolts.
