Put some steelies on my truck today and built some "custom" center caps

My aluminum rims got pretty thrashed this winter. The center caps got the worst of it. My old winter tires were gone and so was my 4x4 so I had to roll my 71 all winter long. A few weeks ago I got a set of 16inch early 90's steelies from the metal dude who stops by my work every week. Two days ago we did some tires on a silverado and the old ones had decent tread left so I snagged em up and threw them on, after work I went to my buddies house and he had 4 16inch beauty rings for me just sitting on his wall. Awsome! I'm going to blast and powder coat my center caps for my aluminum rims some time soon just not sure of the color yet. Last night after work I got to thinking about what I was going to do with a set of rally caps I got from a fellow member (thelonerife). I had two gmc and two chev caps. I'm not very picky but I didn't want to have a chev cap and a gmc on my burb haha. So I started thinking about what I could use for centers. I orginally thought about cutting sheet metal and just flat blacking them for center caps but them I saw a ring sitting in my buddies garage and I put it in the center, perfect fit! but had only one problem with a hole in the middle. I fixed that with four spikes I have had since the 8th grade haha. These will be going on my burb after I lower it. Let me know what you y'all think and a big thank you to thelonerife for the great deal on the caps!!!

The aluminum rims look sharp, but agree the salt here eats them and its a pain to polish every spring.

Steelies look nice too
