Power Steering upgrade

I am wanting to know what is the most cost effective way to upgrade my 76 c10 from manual steering to power steering. I want to get rid of the rag joints for U-joints. Just trying to find a pocket friendly gear box, or any pocket friendly suggestions. Wanting to get rid of some of the slop in the steering. Really wish I could aford rack-n-pinion!

Re: Power Steering upgrade

If your truck has a 350, just find the brackets off a junkyard, or even the pump and box if you are feeling lucky..but you can get a rebuild box and new pump at autozone, some new hoses and you're set. You can probably even get brackets and pulleys from summit.
If you have a straight 6, finding brackets is tough.

Re: Power Steering upgrade

My advice is to find a complete power steering unit of a donor truck. You can also find them on ebay. The rag joint isn't too bad, you can also get a replacement. I bought a Borgeson steering shaft with the ujoints on my old lifted K5 and it worked great.
