Is this Practical ?
I am considering buying a truck similar to this one;
And removing the useless short bed and have it crushed and sent to China. Then I want to lengthen the frame and put a more practical long bed or even an 8.5' bed on there so that I can actually use the truck. Have any of you guys done this?

If that's the kind of ride you want,go for it.It may not be everyones cup of tea but it's your ride.Just remember people will be asking if your gonna cut it to a shortbed.Just like they ask me if I'm gonna put a v8 in mine.

yeah sounds like you need to get a 3/4 ton if you want work use.. imo this is a classic weekend truck thats not meant to have alot of extreme bed use

If the truck is that nice, no, not practical, no use in cuttin up good stuff.
If it's definitely a project truck, MAKE IT LONG!  Go big or go home. (:And the short bed, don't crush it, sell it on Craigslist atleast, recoop some money. |
