Re: Garage Pictures????

here is my shop that I built this in 2010. It is 30x40 with 10 foot walls and scissor trusses to give me 14 feet in the center. Plans are to put a 2 post hoist in the middle bay and make the far right bay a spray both.

Nice shop! Please do an alternate tinkering with the Biscayne.
Really miss my 65 Bel Air!

Back when I bought my lift (about 6 years ago) I did a lot of research on them. Rotary Lift, at that time, was the only company that was building lifts here in the U.S. and they also lift tested them. (Made in Indiana)

Seeing how lift failure will kill you... or worse yet hurt your vehicle ... I didn't want to buy some inferior copy cat foreign made crap.

I use the lift a couple times a week, it is a good quality piece. The welds and gauge of materials used is top notch. Just wish I would have bought one 30 years ago!

Re: Garage Pictures????

Hey Lakeroadster, your shop looks pretty nice and yes I had a rotary in my old garage and when we sold the house the guy wanted me to leave it so I did and now its 4 years latter and I still don't have a hoist... Well at least I finally got my shop now and can get some stuff organised as I hated having my cars in the garage attached to the house. I know what you are talking about with wishing you had a hoist years ago it sure makes things a lot easier and enjoyable.

Re: Garage Pictures????

came across these photos of the shop, so here it is. it is all home made, 40' x 50'. uprights are 7' drill casing. looks like it needs painting again from here. something else to do!

Looks like a SPOA9 or extended height model? I've got a SPOA9 in my pole barn but no heat out there yet. Its too tall for the heated garage attached to my house so now I have to choose between heat or the lift I agree on the safety, a properly used lift is probably the safest way to work on a vehicle.

Bigcow, good to see you posting

Actually it's a SPOA10. At 10,000 lb capacity I figure it's good for everything I will ever need to hoist.

Re: Garage Pictures????

I'd take a picture of my garage...but all you'd see is a parking lot or my buddy's side yard with the truck parked in it.

...one day....one day I'll have a sweet garage.

Re: Garage Pictures????

First couple shows my old barn in the background, open on the south side, no electricity and a gravel floor. (And I did paint that Caprice and all my other cars in there using the tarp carport as a booth) The other two are my new one going up now... Will be 30' by 40' with 14' ceiling and full 6" concrete floor so eventually I can ad a lift or three! I am excited!

Thanks. I have built (4) over the years... each time there is something I wanted to do different... so eventually with a little help from dumb luck maybe I got it right?

I have learned that using T-111 style exterior wood sheeting on the inside of the walls is less susceptible to getting holes knocked into compared to drywall. Also grinding debris wipes off of it easily. Comes in 4' x 8' sheets, edges overlaps so the joints don't need finishing, and it is pretty inexpensive too.
