2000 ford explorer rear end info please
im 1st in line for a 2000 ford explorer disc. brake rear end where would i ask the guy to look for the #'s or ? to determine the ratio, elsewhere it was noted that 96-2000 is either 373 or 410 & 60.5 wide. any thoughts on why i shouldnt install this, besides the obvious bracketry, thanks all have a great productive weekend

Re: 2000 ford explorer rear end info please
There should be a small metal tag on one of the cover bolts that has the info on it. It will say the ratio, and will have an 'L' between the numbers if it's a locking diff. Poeple don't always put them back on when thw covers are removed for service though.

Re: 2000 ford explorer rear end info please
Hate to ruin this for ya, but I have had 2 Explorers 2000/2001 as company vehicles. THey are prone to pinion bearing issues and are extremely noisy. The 2000 was finally scrapped, but had the pleasant hum of Super Swampers, the 01 is not as bad. Be sure to check them out closely.

Re: 2000 ford explorer rear end info please
they are 31 spline axels, 8.8 ring gear, posi, and same axels and axel bearings as a big bearing 9". very tough rear ends very popular swap for s10s, jeep cherokees, and mustang 5lug conversions. mustangs and rangers are 28 spline and drums. the explorer has very high load rating due to the large axel bearings.
beats the hell out of any 10 bolt and imo just as good if not better than a 12 bolt heres more info http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Axles.html
