Are they specialized? I used some from a set from HF and they looked just like the ones in my factory grille....

No, the ones in the grille mounting kits are just regular style rivits. And you are correct, the originals are just normal rivits, too. I know I have some left over, and I'll go to the hardware store and find the as many as are needed to make a set.

the rivets that are the difficult ones seem to be the 4 that are exposed on the grill front - they are steel and surround the headlight bezel - i used alum ones from paragon , - a vette parts supply house and i am sure that if you look them up you could secure steel ones , vetts use a lot of rivets and they need peened over - the alum ones were the correct head but when i peened them on the did leave a slight imperfection on the domed - exposed head on the viewed side - from the set mandrel . but they can be had im sure if Paragon was called and they are located in Mich , and get steel ones . the rest of the suppert rivets are easy it is the bezel 4 that need the particular attention to look absolutely stock and they peen nice if you buy them from them because of the softness of the steel which is important . they have an 800 #

I looked high and low. You know how it is when you think you know where something is, then you look, and walah! It's not there? Well, I am unable to find the rivits. I know I have some, but I cannot find them. Chances are they'll appear long after you need yours. I was hoping to find at least one so I could locate some more for you at the hardware store. Anyway, sorry. BUMP for you.

Dave, the ones in Brothers are exactly like the ones I was looking for.

The rivets are not like regular rivets. The originals should not be a standard rivet on top near the bump/stand for the hood. These should be as kelly stated a domed smooth top rivet. There is a company in florida that sells stainless rivets that are actually bolt in units. The originals had to be peened over and can be very difficult to do, these are actually threaded in and look original from the top. I will post some pictures in a little bit if interested.

Definitely interested in pictures and info on where to purchase. I looked at old grilles and they looked like std rivets...but I want to make sure to do it right on my super! Thanks for the info!

Here are the pictures, hope this helps. Jonathon, the florida auto fastener on ebay is who I use to get these rivets. They sell them in packages of 50 I think- $10 and shipping I believe. Harold

The bolts you are showing are what is used to bolt metal lockers together. They make them in a couple different size heads. They have a little bur on the back of the head so it doesent spin when tighting it . I have used these many time and look a lot better then pop rivets that some times is used. Good luck Ken

Those rivits are also used on Impala grilles. You can buy them from Luttys Chevrolet Wharehouse in PA. I think the part number is (07964) for a set of 15 rivets.

I was sure I'd bought from them before but now I can't find florida auto fastener by searching by store name or seller? Keeps giving me errors...might just be ebay search tonight...do you have a link to them or the auction for those rivets?

Thanks, just bought two pair and saved as a seller....I knew I'd bought from him before. He had stainless kits for the interior and the door hinges I got. The interior ones were awesome and really cheap for all that was included....nicely labeled and individually packaged for each part of the interior!
