Spring swap on a Suburban...
I didn't get much help at ChevyTalk so I thought I would post here. I want to lift and level my '87 1/2 ton 2wd 'burb. Will 3/4 ton springs work on the front? I will be using Add-a-leafs on the rear for about 1-1/2" - 2". Maybe instead of 3/4 ton front springs on the front use big block springs. What do you think? Any help would be great.

When I was looking to buy my suburban, I looked at a '76 1/2 ton that had 3/4 ton springs in the front and and extra leaf in the back. It looked good and drove well. Of course, I was just taking his word on it, but it did sit up alot higher.
Good to see another local on here! If you post this in the 73-87 Message Board forum instead of the Parts forum, you'll probably get more responses. Good luck!

They also make rubber add-ins for front coil springs. You can get them at any spring shop. Alot of times they use them up north here for guys putting plows on the front they also act as an overload. The bumpstop will ride on rubber then these are relatively inexpensive and work very well.
