cant stop the squeeking. HELP!!
If I hit any kind of bump in my truck at any speed it squeeks and creeks. If I rock my truck at a standstill it sounds like its coming from all the rear bushings on the leaf springs and all those rubber joints in my front suspension(its an '89).I know my truck is in dire need of new shocks and I was wondering if new shocks would solve my problem? O, and it just started doing this less than a month ago. Its getting really annoying going down main street and everytime I hit a bump it squeeks. Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanx in advance, DK

I have the same prob. with my 89 gmc 3/4. It sound like it comes from the front, but I can't pin point it. I've sprayed all the bushings with some graphite spray and still have it. I'll keep watching your thread and maybe I'll find the cure for my squeak too.

squeak
To locate the squeak, unbolt the shocks from the lower a arms, and from the rear end, and swing them out of the way, then bounce your truck. If the squeak persists, then it is the a-arm bushings on the front, (most likely caused by rubber deterioration, soak them with tranny fluid and see if the sqeak goes away) or the bolts are hanging up inside the bushing on the swing end of the leaf.(caused by rust or corosion, best fix I've found is replace bolt and clean or hone the hole, so it will slide)
Hope this helps. Tibbar |

lol...to keep squeaks away, simply install headers with short pipes that dump right under the cab. that should do the trick.
