Master Cylinder Boot... HELP NEEDED

Hi Guys,

I have searched the forums for a Master Cylinder boot, but no luck. I found the link for the firewall boot, but not the one that fits over the end of the master cylinder.

I actually ordered one from GMC Paul's over the weekend, and received a refund notification because they showed them to be discontinued.

I think I found one at O'Reilly, but it comes with a Master Cylinder rebuild kit. I just purchased a new MC from O'Reilly, but it didn't come with a new boot. My original boot had cracked into two pieces. I really don't want to pay $29 for a rebuild kit just to get a $2 boot.

Any ideas? I would go with a good used one at this point.

Oh... my truck is a '68 with 327 no air 4 speed if that matters.

Thanks... you guys are the best!

Re: Master Cylinder Boot... HELP NEEDED

Thanks for the input, put I had inquired at OPG about that same part number and they informed me that it was on back order. Expected availability would be 30-90 days. I have encountered the same situation with other repop vendors.

It's always the little things...

Thanks again, NoNeck

I got mine for my '72 GMC from Golden State Truck Parts out of AZ. In stock and got it in less than a week.

Re: Master Cylinder Boot... HELP NEEDED

What you have came across is a discontinued GM part. Nobody has reproduced them yet and is why you can't find one. I will use my parts locator and see what I can come up with. WES

Re: Master Cylinder Boot... HELP NEEDED

Thanks GASoline71 and Wes. I appreciate any and all help. I could just put my old dust boot back in and no one would know the difference... except me. I just want to repair it correctly.

By the way 68GMsee, that is the correct boot that I need.

Re: Master Cylinder Boot... HELP NEEDED

That sounds great Wes. I called the 800 number, but it was after business hours. I'm not familiar with Modern Chevrolet. Is that a GM dealership or aftermarket vendor? Also, what city and state are they located in so that I can be sure to call them during business hours. I am in Tennessee.

I will call them tomorrow morning.

Thanks a bunch!

They are a Chevrolet Dealership in Winston, Salem, NC. They have a classic parts devision also called classic muscle I believe. Anyway just give them the part number and they will turn you over to who you need to talk to. WES
