1 Ton Brake problems
I have an 1985 GMC Sierra 3500 with a Dana 60 and Bendix brakes. The problem I am having is that I cannot get the caliper off. I removed the only hex bolt and banged on it to shake it loose but not luck. If there is a trick to get the calipers off let me know. Thanks everyone!!!

Re: 1 Ton Brake problems
Crack the bleeder screw, see if there is still pressure being held in the caliper. I do not know what the calipers look like, but usually there are two slider bolts and two bracket bolts, are you trying to get just the caliper off or the caliper and bracket? If a caliper(still attached to the bracket) is giving me a problem I usually try prying between the rotor and caliper with a screwdriver.

once you get the hex bolt out you need to take comething and gently hamer the slider inwards (the slider is the part that the hex screw was through)

Re: 1 Ton Brake problems
What was the original problem? Was the brake stuck? I've seen the rubber lines going from the caliper to the frame rail wad up inside and not release the pressure to the caliper. Like Gyawo said, loosen the bleeder and see if it helps. Change the rubber line if it looks old.

X2 the wedge is still in it. look at close while it comes out, when you go back together you will swear it wont fit.
