Can I disable my front hubs?
My '73 K20 has been parked for a while because something poped after I put it in 4WD. I think it could be the driver side hub but I'm not sure, I haven't taken it apart yet. It makes all kinds of noise when I drive whether I have the hubs locked or not.
I do not have the time/energy/money to fix this correctly right now. I have been told I can "gut" the hubs and just freewheel the front wheels until I can get around to fixing the problem. Is this true? If so, it is very hard to do? I believe I have the D44 front axle with spicer hubs.
