Rusted cab and misc part swap

So I have a 68 Chevy seaside with rust everywhere, cab, genders, etc. So I went to the junk yard and found a beautiful 72 gmc. I was wondering if any of them are swappable mainly the cab and core support.

If there not what's so different about them?

What's different between the cabs if anything.

This truck also has disc brake, would they be swappable also.

Re: Rusted cab and misc part swap

The cabs are swappable. The differences are the E-Brake setup.Get the cables and they can be converted. There is a screw under the vent window to hold the door together better by the window. The mirror mounts differently.

That's all I can remember right now.

The core support has different light bucket set-ups but IIRC they can be changed.I'm not sure about the shape of the core support and you may need different mounts.

The disc brakes are a straight swap.Just unbolt the whole front crossmember and swap it in.Get the MC Booster and Prop valve from the 72 also. The plumbing will also make the swap easier.

Re: Rusted cab and misc part swap

Core support is different because it'll have four lights and the mount area is different from 69-up also.

Cab would interchange pretty much 100%.

If you get the disc brakes, you'd need the rear off the 72 also or conversion axles for the rear of the 68 because the 72 would be 5 lug...

Re: Rusted cab and misc part swap

Will 68' doors fit on the 72 cab?
