I'm brand new here guys... Help!
Ok, Let me explain before I start asking... (you guys are going to get tired of hearing me before it's over) ...I just bought a 70 gmc shortbed stepside with rust in the rockers, floor pans, and a little in the bed but not terrible anywhere. I picked it up for $1100 and it runs... Thats about all I'll brag about. It's a decent looking 307, no power steering, and manual drums of course. The body is fair but far from perfect, It would make a great rat rod project but I don't want to completely trash it. My first question is--- Is this project even worthwhile? I want 4 wheel power disc and power steering. I want to lower it with a clean set of wheels. I want to primer it brown and drive the piss out of it... All that sounded cheap and easy but the brake kits are much higher than I thought. I have some drop spindles and parts from a 2000 2wd suburban, can I make these work? and lastly, if not... please tell me the best efficient way of lowering, disc braking, and power steering my truck. If it is even worthwhile. (I'd like to keep it 6 Lug)

1st,... WELCOME to the board.
You can find most of your lowering and disc brake info by reading threads here in the suspension section and the 67-72 message board area. Look here for the disc brake stuff: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...68&postcount=4 The 2000 suburban spindles won't work with your suspension. The biggest question I have for you,... is what kind of budget do you have for your truck build? Read, read, read. The seach function works great for pin pointing specific threads,... like "rear disc brakes". Look around in the classifieds for good deals on used parts. Again,... welcome.

Also check out the "Suspension Marketplace".
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...play.php?f=210 We have most all of the major suspension vendors right here to answer your questions. Not only do they post up great deals and new products,... they are also members here, that enjoy these old trucks as much as you do.

Re: I'm brand new here guys... Help!
The front end is the cheap part. You can simply snag an entire front suspension cradle from a newer truck. Trucks from 71-87 and suburbans to 91. Rear disk will require a kit. There are quite a few available now.check with the board vendors here and im sure you can find something reasonable. Keeping it 6 lug throws a curveball. It forces you to buy conversion parts for what you have which is more money. The lowering stuff all depends on how low your looking to go to which direction you should go.
