Finally picked it up

so its been over a year since ive tried to get this thing home but i finally got it home this past sunday. its a long story why i couldnt get it but lets just say i had an unexpeded lay off, the day before i was going to get it.

anyways. its pretty much the coolest thing ever and has alot of rust in the usual places. i even found some original lettering from the company it came from. i found a 16 on it and i think im gonna call her ol number 16(for lack of a better name for now).

Re: Finally picked it up

Looks like it will be a really cool project. I wonder if it was a service vehicle or something? You'll have to keep us updated on your progress.

Re: Finally picked it up

Yes welcome and looks like a great truck. Actually the rust doesn't look too bad except for over the windshield, but for a truck from Ma. it looks great! I'm sure alot of the west coasters would walk away in fear. Here in Ky, we have plenty of rust too, road salt and moisture have taken their tole on most of these trucks around here. Just rememeber it's only metal and nothing some fabrication and a welder won't fix! Good luck with#16 and keep us posted. I am jealous of it being a 4x4!

Re: Finally picked it up

short bed and 4 speed too. i did some research and it looks like chevy only made like 1600 shortbed fleetside 4x4s in 69 is this true? o ya and for the welding, i went to a welding school and work in a fab shop. so hopefully that wont be a problem. but it is kinda scary i havnt gotten into it yet since it hasnt stopped raining but im going to look it over tomarrow, and order a few pannels like rockers, floor and cab corners. i also think that it is a good first project because it doesnt look like its ever really been messed with. it looks all original and almost all there and it runs a drives and plows and stops. the e brake even works. my 2000 silverados ebrake doesnt even work lol

Re: Finally picked it up

Welcome aboard, sure love that colour on these trucks.
I feel obliged to incorporate #16 into your user name...perhaps 16Scandels or Sweet16, hmmmmm...I'll get back to you on that.
