rear big wheel question

On a 67-72 truck, what is the widest wheel you can run without having to get rid of the trailing arms? Wheels in mind are 22x12 with a 4 inch backspace. Narrowing the rearend is something I dont mind and know it will have to be done more than likely. You guys let me know so I can relate the info. to my brother.

Re: rear big wheel question

Ive got 22x12 in the rear with ride tech trailing arms and there is tons of clearance. I do have a mini tub but even with stock arms you should have plenty of room.

Re: rear big wheel question

Mine has 15x10's and pretty big rear tires and its really close to rubbing on the inner fender/bed, with stock rear trailing arms and lowered with springs and a adjustable trac bar.

I'm running 20 x 12's with a 7" backspacing and a 31-16 tire. I'm not anywhere close to the trailing arms. Here'a few pictures:

I had a buddy make it for me. It's similar to the ones that FuelCell guy sells, but we modified it to have the sump in the back.

Rob I LOVE that truck! I was wondering, does it still has the narrow rear end?

What do you have to do to be able to run a 22x12 with a 4 inch backspace?

Hart_Rod and C10Seconds, do you guys have any rubbing issues on the fender(outer) side of the tire?

I had slight rubbing when I had the wider 71/72 rear installed. None whatsoever with the narrower 67-70 rear end.

Re: rear big wheel question

Sweet! I shouldn't have a problem stuffing in a wide wheel in the rear on my '68 then!

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Hey C10, any more pics of your truck with the 22's like in your avatar...?
