Lokar Shifters - Cable or Rod ???? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm thinking about buying a Lokar Shifter and see they offer both Cable and Rod style shifters. Anybody have a Lokar that can tell me which they used and what works best in our Trucks ??

Any help would be Greaty appreciated

you going to use floor shifter or on column ,why lokar what tranny ?

I used a lokar with the rod, here are the only two picts that I have in this computer. It works perfect..

350 Trans Floor shifter and I like the looks of the Lokar.

I'm open to suggestions for other floor shifters you all like. I'm going to the floor for sure just doing some research. I 'd like to say under $300 and am looking for looks and ease of shifting and installation.

I have a floor shift Lokar with a 700R. I used the rod one.

i like lokar for thier quality and great looks// i've had a few they've held up great mine were rod linkage as i dont think cable was available when i purchased them also i used the tranny mount ones as the floor mount wasn't available back then

for a TH 2004R i would strongly advise the floor mount rather than tranny mount as the 200 doesnt have removeable tail shaft and the tranny mounted shifter is hard to stop from ratteling

The Lokar shifters are available with a cable. This was designed for applacations where the shifter is mounted directly above the selector shaft. When the shifter is mounted that far foward it will not shift because the shifter will move foward of the selector shaft. Any questions please contact our tech department Toll Free 1-877-469-7440.

good to know. I have a customer with a 57 chevy coupe and he is thinking of changing out his ratchet B&M for something simpler to shift his 700R4.

I would think a rod style is better especially when the shifter is mounted to the trans.
