Re: Got photos of your stereo upgrade?

Thanks to the suggestions and photos in this thread, I got a new JVC deck mounted in the aftermarket centre-dash bracket I got from eBay. The blue is a bit darker than the rest of the dash, but it's close enough.

Although I didn't spend a lot of dough on the JVC, (as this vehicle is not my DD), compared to the old stock factory unit it's like I'm flying in the shuttle now. LOL

Here's how it looks.

What did you guys use to secure the stereo in the aftermarket plastic dash piece. It's a snug fit, but so far I haven't screwed it in place.

Man, seeing that photo, I'd better dust off my dash.

Anyone with this dash placement? How did you secure the deck in place or did you just stuff it in there?

Re: Got photos of your stereo upgrade?

My Alpines come with a sleeve that the head unit slides into and locks into place. That sleeve has a bunch of tabs of varying lengths around it. You slide the sleeve into the dash panel and then pop up some of those tabs on the backside to lock the sleeve into place. Then you slide the head unit into the sleeve until it locks.

Re: Got photos of your stereo upgrade?

heres mine, i paid s buddy of mine to install it for me since i have a serious phobia of wiring and im famous for breaking plastic tabs. It was well worth it in the end though. I replaced the old stero location with a garmin gps, it worked out pretty good and looks clean!
