OK, so got a 1984 chevy C30 6.2L diesel, the head lights stopped working, no fuse on the dash. so where is it? Duh figured out they put fuseable links in? gah why? anyway now need to figure out where those darn things are.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I never had your model of truck, but all of my squares had a fuse for lights, including headlights. Did you check all of the fuses, especially those which have the marking like "LGTS" on the fuse box? I have not seen a fusible link on the headlight harness itself. Sometimes it is hard to tell if the fuse is blown when working upside down on your back in the dark. Also, it could be the headlight switch itself - so try turning the headlight switch to the left and see if the dome lights go on, assuming that you find a blown fuse and the lights will still not go on. Headlight switch replacement is easy and you can get the part anywhere. If the fuses are all good, you can check the wires at the headlight switch to see if there is power to the switch. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but thought I would add what little I know.

i had a similar problem, the small hot wires at comeing off the starter, one was burn in two and i lost power to my lights. It didn't look all that bad but was messed up inside.

When I had that link at the stater go bad my truck would not start, or start intermittently. I did not know that it was connected to the headlight harness. The parts stores sell these fusible links by wire gauge size which equates to amperage (AFAIK). The one I got was listed for a Ford and a different style, but it still worked (14 ga), even though it was a "mixed marriage"

I bought a couple spare ones and here is a pic of one like it.
