Will the buckets transplant from an 88 model to a 79 model without major alteration? I know the 79 has a passenger seat that disconnects on the back side and folds up and the 88 does not. But it is almost looking like maybe just add two bolts in the rear and the newer seats will go in?

Thought I'd ask before going and measuring since it's raining.

Does the '88 seat fold and slide, rather than tip forward? Either way, it's probably only 4 holes (at worst) to drill. You might be able to take the seat itself and mount the '79 mounts to it.

Yes, the 88's fold and slide. The 79 pops up from the floor and tilts forward.

I had also thought about possibly using just the seats from the 88 and my tracks, they'd have to clean up some though and work a little better than they are now. I bet some lubing would make a world of difference on them though.

Found a set of buckets, console and back seat locally for $55. They are red cloth, but they look a ton better than what I got. Also found a set of blue vinyl but have not heard a price yet.

I put a set of Suburban buckets in my '75 Blazer once upon a time, and just used the Blazer brackets. Wasn't too big of a deal, but that was a loooong time ago, too.

i have used 88 and newer seats in mine and currently have 2001 tahoe seats in it. the front two holes will match most chevy /gmc bucket seats from full size truck/blazer/suburban/tahoe (you get the idea) but you will have to drill new holes for the rear. the 2001 tahoe seats are a tight fit for the front and need minor clearance work on the bolt holes

the burb seats have the tilt/lean dial to turn this is handy i've found getting behind the drivers seat
